Fran Capo, the world's fastest-talking woman, can recite "The Three Little Pigs" in 15 seconds flat. Don't believe us? Check out her skills in the video (above), which LaunchPad Entertainment posted to YouTube on July 6.
Capo currently holds the Guinness World Record for world's fastest-speaking woman, which she earned by spewing 603.32 words in 54.2 seconds -- that's roughly 11 words a second.
The native New Yorker explains in the video that her rapid speaking abilities are tied to a unique function in the part of the brain responsible for producing speech.
“They actually have done studies on my brain, like three-hour studies with EEG. And what they found out is that the Broca section of my brain -- which controls speech -- works different than a lot of other people. ... So my brain actually sees it different. ... Once I have it in my brain ... it’s almost like just taking it from my brain and just getting it out," she says.
According to Capo's website, her fast-talking legacy started in 1986 when the New York Daily News profiled her for her quirky on-air personality as a radio reporter. At the end of the profile, Capo was quoted as saying she had ambitions of breaking the world record for fastest female talker. The same day the article was published, "Larry King Live" offered to her a chance to break the record on live television. On the March 5 of that year, she appeared on camera and spoke 585 words in a minute, clinching her place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
In 1990, she broke the record again, and she hasn't been defeated since.
Her secret? She always say yes to new challenges.
"People often ask me how I did that or how I’ve managed to do many of the things I’ve done, like lecturing for the first time, or going on stage or bungee jumping," she told the World Record Academy. "I tell them I live my life by this simple philosophy: I always say yes first, then ask myself, 'Now, what do I have to do to accomplish that?'"
