Elephants Protect Their Young As Air Raid Siren Sounds

Human conflict can be hard on all kinds of living things.

The video above shows elephants reacting to air raid sirens going off near Ramat Gan Safari Park in the Tel Aviv area. According to the clip's YouTube description, translated from Hebrew, the animals can be seen gathering around their young, presumably to shield them.

In the clip, posted July 9 by a zoo worker, an explosion can also be heard.

"Poor creatures," one viewer wrote.

Another description on Facebook mentioned that after the missile alarm ended, the animals went back to their daily routine.

BuzzFeed noted that zoos in Gaza have incurred extensive animal losses in previous outbreaks of hostilities.
