Fan Jumps Onto Field, Drunkenly Charges The Mound After Batter Hit By Pitch

WATCH: Drunk Fan Seeks Retribution After Batter Hit By Pitch

When one of your team's batters gets hit by a pitch, it's best to take a deep breath and let it go.

Or you could do as this fan did, and put it on the charge card. As in, leap onto the field and charge the mound, seeking a retaliatory punch for the pitcher.

The fan, identified by KZTV as 35-year-old Nikolas Swope, made the questionable leap onto the field Sunday evening during a game between the Corpus Christi Hooks and the Midland RockHounds, two minor league teams in the Texas League, after RockHounds pitcher Blake Hassebrock hit Hooks first baseman Telvin Nash with a pitch in the fifth inning.

In a post-game interview with the Corpus Christi Caller Times, Hassebrock said he thought Swope was a trainer at first, then was shocked to realize a fan had taken the field and was running at the mound.

"By the time he got to me, he stopped and it looked like he came to and regretted being out there in the first place," said Hassebrock. "We didn’t (make contact)."

“This was something out of ‘Eastbound and Down,’" he continued, "(What he said) was pretty much inaudible, drunken gibberish. (There was) a couple of f-bombs and some slurring. I’m pretty sure he was upset I hit Nash.“

KZTV reports Swope, who police say was under the influence of alcohol, has been charged with criminal trespassing and threatening assault.
