'The Big Bang Theory' Has Some Big Changes In Store For Season 8

A BIG Change For 'The Big Bang'

Money seems to be a running theme when it comes to "The Big Bang Theory."

After news that contracts for the original cast had yet to be signed with only two weeks to go before filming, it seems art has now mirrored life. While Kaley Cuoco is one of the stars in line for a major pay raise when Season 8 returns this Fall, it looks like her character will be cashing in a bigger check as well. Chuck Lorre told reporters at this year's TCAs that big changes are planned for Penny's storyline when the hit series finally does air this September.

"Penny has an interesting arc this year where she puts acting down," Lorre said. Apparently, Penny pulls the plug on her failed career in front of the camera in order to become a pharmaceutical rep which will bring in plenty more dough for the character and possibly cause some problems with fiance Leonard. "She's going to start making some money, which will unbalance their relationship as the power shifts," Lorre said. "She's going to find some confidence and self-esteem, which acting does not provide in great heaping doses."

As for rumors that Season 8 may be stalled thanks to recent salary negotiations between Warner Bros. and the cast, Lorre said fans shouldn't worry when it comes to America's favorite geek squad. "This will work itself out," Lorre said. "I think it's great; I want them all to be crazy wealthy because nobody deserves it more than this cast. It'll work out."
