Fran Drescher On Uterine Cancer Diagnosis: 'I Thought It Was Just Over For Me'

The Diagnosis That Made Fran Drescher Weep

In 2000, Fran Drescher, the star of the '90s TV sitcom "The Nanny," received a diagnosis no one wants to hear.

"When I was told I had uterine cancer I really wept," she says in the above clip from "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" "I thought that it was just over for me, but by the grace of God I was only in Stage 1."

Not one to stay silent, Drescher went on to write the best-selling book Cancer Schmancer, which details her experience and educates women on prevention and early detection.

"I honestly feel like I got famous, I got cancer, and I lived to talk about it -- and I'm talking," she says.

In the video below, Drescher appears on HuffPost Live and shares her best tip for preventing cancer.

"Oprah: Where Are They Now?" with Nicole Richie, Fran Drescher and Tom Green airs Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on OWN.
