Hertsfordshire police released a statement this morning to report that the dog wasn't injured and was returned to its owner. The man reportedly allowed the men to walk his dog but didn't know about the abuse until he saw the video on Facebook.

"No animal deserves to be treated in this way and we are taking this matter extremely seriously," Lindsey Cox from the Stevenage Safer Neighbourhood Team said in the release. "We appreciate the images are not of the best quality but I am sure someone will know who these people are and I would urge you to contact [us]."

The Facebook video has been shared more than 1,600 times since it was posted on Thursday. User are horrified.

"Absolutely disgusting!" one woman wrote. "They are all pure evil! There is way too much cruelty in the world, we need the law to change!"
