ESPN's Matthew Berry: Jay-Z Is 'One Of The Greatest Trash Talkers In The History of Fantasy Football'

ESPN Fantasy Expert Calls Jay-Z 'One Of The Greatest Trash Talkers' In Fantasy Football

Back in the '80s and '90s, fantasy sports existed only as a nerdy retreat for obsessed sports fans. Today, it has permeated culture so much that ESPN's Matthew Berry, arguably the face of fantasy sports today, helped rapper/mogul/icon Jay-Z with his fantasy draft last year.

Berry stopped by HuffPost Live on Monday to chat about the upcoming season, and told HuffPost's Jordan Schultz that hanging with Jay was a favorite memory for him. He also said the rapper might have talked the most trash he's ever seen at a draft.

"I always say: in what universe should Jay-Z and I be hanging out?" Berry said with a laugh. "I'm sitting literally this close to him for three hours, watching him draft and watching him trash talk, everyone else, which is an unholy sight to believe. It's really amazing. One of the greatest trash talkers in the history of fantasy football."

Jay did not end up winning the league, as that honor went to former record executive Steve Stoute. Clippers point guard Chris Paul was also in the fantasy league.
