President Barack Obama will deliver a statement Monday on the protests in Ferguson, Missouri as well as the ongoing conflict in Iraq, the White House announced.

Obama is scheduled to speak at 4 p.m. ET from the White House press briefing room.

Obama, who had been on vacation in Martha's Vineyard with his family, returned to Washington, D.C. just after midnight Monday morning to attend meetings with advisers as tensions grow over the death of Michael Brown, the unarmed black teenager shot and killed by a police officer. The president met with Attorney General Eric Holder to discuss the protests in Ferguson. He also huddled with his national security team on Iraq, where the administration carried out targeted airstrikes over the weekend.
