Killer Whale Throws Sea Lion 20 Feet In Air -- With A Flick Of Its Tail

Killer Whale Throws Sea Lion 20 Feet In Air

With a flick of its tail, a killer whale provided a whale of a tale for those aboard a fishing boat in Alaska recently.

The orca chased down a sea lion and threw it into the air about 20 feet, according to the YouTube description.

Anglers Adventures, which says it hosted the outing, explained that the killer whale had been stalking the sea lion near Ketchikan, Alaska, on Aug. 15, and the sea lion tried to hide under the boat.

Then, a bit later, as someone on the boat says of the would-be prey, "He's swimming in the wrong direction," BOOM! The whale strikes.

Anglers Adventures didn't immediately return a request for comment, but USA Today debated the veracity of the footage before concluding it was real.

Orcas have also been known to use their powerful tails to attack sharks.
