'Support Officer Darren Wilson' GoFundMe Raises Over $135,000 For Cop Who Shot Michael Brown

A GoFundMe page set up to support Darren Wilson, the officer who fatally shot unarmed black teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, has raised over $137,000 and counting since it was created on Aug. 17.

Wilson was identified during an Aug. 15 press conference as the officer who shot Brown. The teenager was fatally shot on Aug. 9.

An update posted to the GoFundMe page on Thursday acknowledged the growing campaign:

We have raised our goal for the third time! The generosity of everyone is truly amazing. We want to thank each and every one of you who are standing behind Darren during this time. The positive messages, prayers and donations are truly heartwarming. We cannot put into words how thankful we are.

Groups have rallied in support of Wilson in Ferguson, where nightly protests have taken place since Brown was shot. At an Aug. 17 rally, pro-Wilson t-shirts were available for a $7 donation. They sold out.

Yahoo reports people across the country have lit their porch lights blue to signify solidarity with Wilson.

But not everyone has been on board with fundraisers to support Wilson. Frank Ancona, Imperial Wizard of the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, criticized another member of the KKK for what he called a "scam" fundraiser. (Ancona did not rule out his own branch of the organization hosting a fundraiser sometime in the future.)
