Meet Ferguson Fellow Mariah Stewart

As other national media outlets slowly withdraw from Ferguson, Missouri, The Huffington Post plans to stay and cover Michael Brown's story as it continues to unfold.

The Huffington Post has collaborated with the Beacon Reader to create a fellowship for local resident Mariah Stewart to continue the great work she has done in covering the Ferguson protests as a citizen journalist.

Mariah Stewart and D.C. Bureau Chief Ryan Grim sat down with HuffPost Live on Friday to discuss the nature of the fellowship and Stewart's work.

Stewart explained that she started out by taking photos and interviewing people in the area around the local QuikTrip, a protest rally point, and soon after linked up with the Beacon Reader as a freelancer. When she was offered the opportunity to collaborate with The Huffington Post, Stewart excitedly accepted.

"I'm so happy to be a part of it. It's just a great experience overall," she said.
