The NFL 'Discriminated Against Every Heterosexual Player' By Signing Michael Sam, Pundit Claims

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) sports fans were thrilled when Michael Sam was signed to the practice squad of the Dallas Cowboys last week after being dropped by the St. Louis Rams' roster. But one notorious pundit isn't so thrilled by Sam making history as the first openly gay player drafted by the NFL.

The American Family Association's Bryan Fischer claims that Sam was signed by the Cowboys "because he's a homosexual," alleging that the NFL "discriminated against every heterosexual player that also got cut," Right Wing Watch reported.

“They didn’t go to bat for those guys," Fischer said. "They discriminated against everybody but Michael Sam.”

Meanwhile, Fischer also took to Twitter last week to decry Sam's new appointment:

In May, he penned an Op-Ed for One News Now, accusing the NFL of "celebrating the sexual equivalent of a brain concussion" by "going gaga over Michael Sam's sexual proclivities."

"The contrast between the media's treatment of Michael Sam and Tim Tebow couldn't possibly by more striking. Tebow, a devout practitioner of Christianity, was pilloried and ridiculed," he wrote. "Sam, a devout practitioner of the act of sodomy, is lionized and celebrated."

He concluded, "It truly is a world turned upside down."
