Sports Illustrated focused its attention on the infamous Ray Rice video with a bold, disquieting choice for the cover of its next issue. The grainy image shows Rice and his wife (then-fiancee), Janay Rice, entering an elevator at a casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, seemingly just moments before he punched her, knocking her unconscious.

Sports Illustrated revealed the image on Tuesday, one day after TMZ released shocking video of the altercation inside the elevator in February. The release of the footage on Monday resulted in the termination of Rice's contract with the Baltimore Ravens and the NFL upgrading his two-game suspension to an indefinite ban.
