Katy Perry Reportedly Picked To Play Super Bowl

More than 100 million people may soon hear Katy Perry roar. The pop star has been reportedly picked to play the halftime show at Super Bowl XLIX.

Both Billboard and the New York Post cite sources as saying the "California Gurls" singer will perform at the big game, which will be held on Feb. 1, 2015 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

A deal is being hammered out for Katy to play the Super Bowl,” an entertainment insider told the Post.

Perry's case may have been helped by a memorable appearance last week on ESPN's "College Game Day," in which she wore her own fluffy jersey and cracked corn dog jokes about LSU fans.

Perry said on "Game Day" that she's definitely not cool with the scheme.

The selection of Perry means the end of a fan-driven campaign to get the NFL to pick "Weird" Al Yankovic to play the halftime show. Perhaps next year.
