6 Over-The-Top Items From The Neiman Marcus Christmas Book We Inexplicably Need To Have

6 Absurd Items From The Neiman Marcus Christmas Book That We Kind Of Want

Each year the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book reminds us that the holiday season is almost upon us, and that there are some people in the world whose stocking stuffers put our scratch-off lotto tickets and fuzzy slippers to shame.

Now that we've had a few days to really take in the whole thing, we have to admit we're pretty intrigued by some of the gifts (his-and-hers jet skis, for example, are absurdly priced yet lovely to imagine owning).

Now, we're not saying we would ever buy most of the things in the book for ourselves, but it is fun to dream about (and attempt to rationalize) what we would purchase.

So here is our 2014 Neiman Marcus Christmas Book wish list. Now excuse us while we wait under the tree until Dec 25.

Gold-glazed vintaged leather boots, $698

fryes
"Frye boots are known for their durability, so really, these are an investment. Not to mention they're gold and have studs all over them, which is pretty much the most badass thing ever." - Jamie Feldman, Associate Style Editor

Gold hand-painted embossed linen matchbox (matches not included), $175

aerin matchbox

"This gift is perfect because it satisfies my desire to be a real lady of leisure who still has to rely on free restaurant matches to fill her gold match box." - Rebecca Shapiro, Senior Lifestyle Editor

Leopard-print cat-eye sunglasses, $665

cat eyes

"I want these cat sunglasses because buying them would likely mean never having to buy a halloween costume ever again." - Megan Mayer, Associate Style Editor

Coravin wine access system, $300

wine opener

"I'm terrible at opening wine bottles -- usually I have to get someone else to pull out the cork. Not only does the fancy opener make my life easier, but also ensures that I'll be able to enjoy a nice glass even when I'm hanging solo." Chanel Parks, Associate Style Editor

Faux-Fur covered ice scraper, $35.00

faux fur scraper

"I don't own a car, but I want this $35 ice scraper. To be fair, I haven't the slightest idea how much ice scrapers normally cost, but I can assure you that they don't have a faux-fur handle. It's not even a muff for holding your sorry, cold hands. It's really a missed opportunity for a clever -- albeit kinda silly -- tool. I would have paid infinitely more money (again, presuming I had a car) for a faux-fur muff/ice scraper." - Kate Auletta, Executive Travel Editor

The House of Creed bespoke fragrance, $475,000

creed

"I wear a different fragrance every single day. So ultimately, I could be saving money by buying this because I'll feel too guilty to ever spritz on anything else." - Dana Oliver, Executive Fashion & Beauty Editor

Multicolored Austrian crystal minaudière, $5,195

guitar

"I don't even know what a miniaudière is, but it appears to be a $5,195 miniature guitar covered in crystals. And I want to be able to say I own that." - Renee Jacques, Associate Lifestyle Viral Editor
