Sister Cristina Scuccia, The Singing Nun, Releases 'Like A Virgin' Cover (Without The Naughty Bits)

Singing Nun First Single is... Like A Virgin

The amazing and talented singing nun, Sister Cristina, is a huge fan of the Madonna...and the other Madonna.

For her first album, due to release on November 11, the 26-year-old nun has included a cover of "Like A Virgin," Madonna's racy 1984 hit.

Before prudent mothers everywhere sound the alarm, be assured that Sister Cristina Scuccia left out all the sexy bits -- like, "Gonna give you all my love, boy" -- and calls the version more of “a secular prayer than a pop song." Addressing any fears, Scuccia told Italian newspaper Avvenire:

“If you read the lyrics without being influenced by what has gone before, you discover that it is a song about the capacity of love to make people new again, to release them from their past. And this is how I wanted to interpret it. That’s why we’ve transformed it from the pop-dance track it was into a romantic ballad a bit in the style of Amos Lee.”

Sister Cristina exploded onto the public stage in March with her performance of Alicia Keys' "No One" on "The Voice of Italy." She went on to do covers of "Hero," "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" and more -- ultimately winning the competition and scoring a record deal with Universal.

All the while, the nun has remained humble about her success, performing only in her black habit and flats and letting her voice capture the crowds. She plans to make her perpetual vows in 2018, National Catholic Register reports.

Pop star Madonna, on the other hand, has explored many faith traditions over the years, which may or may not have inspired the religious symbolism in the original "Like A Virgin." Either way, take a look at the 1984 music video, shot in Venice like Sister Cristina's 2014 remake, and tell us which you like better:
