YouTube Star Grace Helbig Explains Why Being An Introvert Isn't So Bad

Hilarious YouTube star Grace Helbig has a loyal fan base because of her fun personality and side-splitting hijinks. But behind the scenes, enjoying some quality alone time is much more her style.

In her latest book, Grace's Guide: The Art of Pretending To Be A Grown-up, Helbig declares that “hanging out by myself” -- sans pants -- is a special skill and one of her favorite activities. In an interview with HuffPost Live on Tuesday, she explained how her perspective on her introverted personality has evolved over time.

“I had this idea that being an introvert was a negative thing, that it had a negative connotation, and I really wanted, as a young person, to strive to be the life of the party and to be really outgoing and to have a million friends,” she said. “And then I realized that an introvert isn’t a negative. It’s just someone that doesn't derive a ton of energy from being social.”

While Helbig said she is “social as a person,” sometimes she finds days of extreme socializing exhausting, and she has come to embrace her personality type.

“I’ve learned to celebrate that, and I think that has resonated with an audience that also feels that way that maybe didn’t think about it in those terms,” she said.
