To say that these 2014 New York Jets are the "same old Jets" might actually be doing a disservice to the other lackluster teams in the franchise's history.

In a season that has already included a humiliating shutout, a heartbreaking defeat decided by a blocked field goal in the closing seconds and a come-from-ahead loss in which a game-tying touchdown was negated by a phantom timeout, these Jets found yet another way to fail dramatically in a 43-23 loss to the Buffalo Bills at home on Sunday: The team had two quarterbacks combine for a staggering six turnovers.

For those who missed the meltdown or wisely averted their eyes, here are six ugly facts about the Jets' turnover-filled performance:

  1. Jets starting quarterback Geno Smith threw three interceptions in the first quarter.

  • Smith was benched during the first quarter, having completed three passes to Bills players and just two to Jets players.
  • Jets back-up quarterback Michael Vick threw an interception and lost two fumbles over the next three quarters.
  • The Jets are the first team to have two quarterbacks with three turnovers apiece in the same game since the 1991 Cardinals, according to Elias Sports.
  • The Jets became one of just seven teams to accomplish that feat in NFL history, according to ESPN.
  • Seven of the NFL's 32 teams had committed fewer than six turnovers all season entering Week 8, according to Pro-Football-Reference.com.
