Fred Armisen Declares War On Avocados

Fred Armisen Just Declared War On Avocados

A word to the wise if you should ever find yourself eating Mexican food with "Portlandia" star and "Saturday Night Live" alum Fred Armisen: don't order the guacamole.

In a HuffPost Live interview Monday, Armisen revealed he is allergic to a whole lot of popular foods, including apples, walnuts and avocados. When questioned on the latter of the three, Armisen went on the offensive.

"I'm proud of it," Armisen said of his allergy with a laugh. "They're not delicious. They are not great. They're poisonous to people. It makes my mouth itchy."

Armisen stopped by the show with "Portlandia" co-star Carrie Brownstone to chat about the pair's new cookbook, "The Portlandia Cookbook: Cook Like a Local." Chances are Armisen won't be making any of the avocado-included recipes.

"You're speaking for avocados. Did they hire you?" Armisen asked host Josh Zepps, before reversing course. "I was, too. We staged that. That was good."
