Two people were taken into custody after disrupting classes wearing Guy Fawkes masks at the University of Kansas, making what some perceived as threats against fraternities.
The University Daily Kansan reports two people were taken into custody and one person was arrested Wednesday afternoon for causing the disruption on campus. No one was injured and no weapons were found, according to the Kansas City Star.
"We are coming for you," one of the masked men wearing military garb, declared in a lecture hall, according to an Instagram video. "All members who do not disassociate themselves with this fraternity will be seen as guilty parties and will be dealt with accordingly."
The man also specifically references the Kappa Sigma fraternity, according to a YouTube video of the disruption.
The Kappa Sigma fraternity at KU is currently suspended on an interim-basis while a reported sexual assault is investigated.
Total Frat Move, a website popular among Greek members, suggested the comments made by the masked man sounded more like a "threat" than an "innocent protest."
Wednesday's date, the 5th of November, is Guy Fawkes Day, which was was popularized by the 1980s graphic novel and 2006 film, "V for Vendetta." As the Economist explains, Guy Fawkes was a 17th-century Roman Catholic terrorist who was executed following a "Gunpowder plot" intended to kill the Protestant King James I.
