Rep. Louise Slaughter (D) was re-elected to Congress on Wednesday after Republican Mark Assini conceded the race over a week after the general election.

After a final tally on Wednesday, Slaughter led Assini by just 869 votes in a race that many did not expect to be close.

Slaughter and Assini were fighting to represent New York's 25th District.
