Sherri Shepherd is trying to see the silver lining in two very public divorces.

The former co-host of "The View" has been locked in a messy custody battle with estranged husband Lamar Sally over the baby boy their surrogate delivered in August. (The exes separated in May.) And earlier this year, the TV star successfully fought ex-husband Jeff Tarpley to retain custody of their 9-year-old son.

In a new interview with Uptown magazine, the 47-year-old said the tough year hasn't been without its lessons.

"The lessons that two divorces have taught me [is] to sit down somewhere and take the time to heal," she said. "Don’t make decisions out of fear. It’s okay to be alone. And make sure that the pre-nup is airtight, baby!"

As for becoming even more of a tabloid fixture as of late, Shepherd said it "comes with the territory."

"For me, silence is the best answer," she told the magazine. "I’m not trying to prove to the world who I am."

Shepherd also made headlines in her professional life this year, when she left "The View" after seven seasons on show. She made her Broadway debut in Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella" in September.
