Golden Globe Nominations For 2015 Spotlight 'Birdman,' 'Boyhood' & 'The Imitation Game'

'Birdman' Tops Golden Globe Nominations

Kate Beckinsale, Jeremy Piven, Peter Krause and Paula Patton had the honor of having impeccable hair and makeup by 5:20 a.m. PT on Thursday morning to announce the 72nd annual Golden Globe nominations. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association's awards, which honor the year's best in film and television, marked the second big Oscar precursor this week after Wednesday's Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.

"Birdman" flew ahead of every other movie with seven nominations. "Boyhood" and "The Imitation Game" follow with five apiece, while "The Grand Budapest Hotel," "The Theory of Everything" and "Selma" came up with four each. All of those movies earned Best Picture nominations, but "Gone Girl," which also nabbed four nominations, did not. Other major snubs include Angelina Jolie's "Unbroken," which walked away empty-handed, and Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar," which only garnered recognition for its score.

On the TV side, "Modern Family" was shut out for the first time in the show's six-year history. Instead, critically acclaimed newcomers like "Silicon Valley," "Transparent" and "Jane the Virgin" made sizable showings across the comedy categories. Overall, "Fargo" collected five nods and "True Detective" made off with four. "Orange is the New Black," "The Good Wife," "The Normal Heart," "Olive Kitteridge," "The Affair" and "House of Cards" earned three each.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host the Golden Globes for the third time on Jan 11, 2015. Here's the full list of nominees:
