The leaders of Cuba and the United States announced a historic move to restore ties on Wednesday.

Both countries agreed to a prisoner swap that provides for the release of three members of the "Cuban Five" who were jailed in the U.S. as well as a Cuban who worked for American intelligence on the island and had been incarcerated for twenty years. Cuba also released Alan Gross, an American aid worker who had been arrested in Havana in 2009.
