The Best Books Of 2014? Here's The Ultimate List

The Ultimate List Of The Best 2014 Books

Last week we shared an infographic created by designer David McCandless that suggests To Kill a Mockingbird is likely the most-recommended novel of all time (or at least of recent times). But what are critics and readers suggesting you pick up this year?

HuffPost Books assembled a list of our favorite 2014 books earlier this month, including Lila by National Book Award nominee Marilynne Robinson and Everything I Never Told You by HuffPost blogger and debut novelist Celeste Ng. Some critics from other outlets picked the similar titles, while others championed National Book Award winner Phil Klay or the ever-imaginative David Mitchell. BookBub counted up the books on the best-of lists published by 23 different outlets, including The Huffington Post, BuzzFeed, The New York Times and The Washington Post, among others.

Of course, this list discounts contributions from bookstores and sites such as Library Thing. This year, HuffPost Books published an overview of the titles employees at Strand Bookstore enjoyed. For a very exhaustive compilation of best-of lists, head over to Largehearted Boy. Below, the 20 of the most-recommended books of 2014:
