Elderly Woman Stabs Senior Home Neighbor In Fight Over Cat

An elderly woman is recovering in the hospital and another was in police custody after a dispute between neighbors turned violent at a senior living facility in California.

Police say that Barbara Holland, 70, had a longstanding feud with her 75-year-old neighbor at St. Francis Manor, a Sacramento senior living facility, CBS Sacramento reports.

On Friday, that dispute reached its tipping point. Authorities say that Holland stabbed her neighbor in the neck. Mortified residents watched as the 75-year-old victim was rolled out on a stretched, bleeding.

“I’ve been here 14 years. We’ve never had anything violent like this happen, ever,” said Ramona Fuentes, according to the Sacramento Bee. “Your first thought is, ‘Oh my God, did somebody get in here?’ But when you realize everyone’s talking about two ladies that live here, well, it’s just unreal.”

Neighbors said the fight was over a cat.

Holland was taken to the Sacramento County Jail. Sacramento Police have decided to withhold her booking photo, according to FOX40.

The victim is expected to survive.
