Amanda Peet Told Husband David Benioff That Dragons On 'Game Of Thrones' Might Be 'Asinine'

Why Amanda Peet Is 'Terrified' To Run Into Kit Harington

Amanda Peet has returned to TV in HBO's new series "Togetherness," putting her on the same network as her husband David Benioff, the co-creator of "Game of Thrones." And while we all know by now just how badass the Mother of Dragons is, Peet needed some convincing, she told HuffPost Live's Ricky Camilleri on Thursday:

In the beginning, when [Benioff] was telling me about the show, you know, I hadn't read the George Martin books, and I was like, "What do you mean? What do you mean when you say there's a dragon on the show? Surely we're not gonna see a dragon because that's asinine." And he was like, "No, yeah, there's a dragon." And I was like, "Well, surely you're not gonna show it? It's gonna be like 'Jaws,' where Steven Spielberg famously kept hiding [the shark]." ... [And David said], "Yeah, yeah, no, we're gonna do that." And then no, you see the dragon.

Another challenge of being married to the "GoT" showrunner is knowing the show's shooting schedule. Peet said she has been known to freak out with worry when she runs into cast members while her husband is filming in Belfast, for fear that they've been killed off.

"When I see cast members, like if I see Kit Harington in LA, I get terrified if David's shooting because I'm like, 'What are you doing here? Why aren't you in Belfast? What's happening to Jon Snow that you're here and not in Belfast right now?'" Peet said.
