Watch out, ladies. The cannibal cop is allegedly hungry for love.
Disgraced ex-NYPD officer Gilberto Valle, who was accused of plotting on the Internet to kidnap, murder, cook and eat women, was released from jail last July after his conviction in the case was overturned. On Wednesday, the New York Post reported that he'd set up an online dating profile on Match.com.
Under the handle AmicableOne14, Valle reportedly listed "cooking" as a hobby, and said he was looking for "non-judgmental" women who are "a little kinky." The profile appears to have been deleted by time of writing.
On Thursday, a Match.com spokesperson told HuffPost that they removed the profile in question after users complained about it.
“We received a number of complaints about this profile, alerting us to its existence, and have removed it,” Match.com said in a statement.
Jezebel thinks the profile is fake, but Gawker's Aleksander Chan is running with it.
For what it's worth, Valle denied knowledge of or affiliation with the profile, when the Post came knocking at his door on Tuesday:
Valle wanted no part of discussing his romantic pursuits on Tuesday. “A what? A dating profile? No, I’m sorry. I don’t know anything about it,” he told The Post... When shown a screenshot of the profile, he blurted, “I don’t want to see it, thanks,” and hurried inside his home.
Valle is currently out on supervised release. After his wife discovered his cannibalistic plans and left him in 2012, Valle did set up an OKCupid profile, which curiously listed Dr. Seuss' "Green Eggs And Ham" as his favorite book:
"It's about a guy named Sam who makes this new breakfast and tries to get his neighbor to try it," Valle wrote. "After many failed attempts, the neighbor finally eats it and to his surprise he really likes it. The Doctor's message in his literary work is that it is good to try new things. I try and employ it in my everyday life."
Valle was initially convicted, but a judge overturned it last year, ruling that while Valle had "depraved, misogynistic sexual fantasies," prosecutors had failed to prove that he'd entered into genuine agreements to abduct and murder women, or taken concrete steps to do so.
