Citrus Cross Sections Are All Over Instagram This Winter

And we're not complaining.

Winter can be dull. It's gray and cold outside and even the comforting things, like stews and roasts, are a little drab-looking. Nothing pops like the bright tomatoes of summer or the radishes and rhubarb of spring. We're basically in color quarantine for a few months, save for one important food group: winter citrus fruit. Oranges, blood oranges, lemons, grapefruit and clementines, we thank you for brightening our darkest months. Not only do your zesty and tart qualities stir us from the inside out, but your colorful brilliance reminds us that there's more to life than bleak, cold days filled with muted color tones.

Recently we've been noticing a lot of people seem grateful for the winter citrus fruit that are giving us hope right now. All over Twitter and Instagram we're seeing not only oranges and grapefruits, but specifically cross sections of these gorgeous citrus fruits. Winter citrus cross sections are so hot right now, and we're not complaining. You won't be either after you get a load of these cross sections. And when February turns into March and it's still cold and gray, let these fruit photos cheer you up.
