What advice would fashion therapist and author Tim Gunn, give to a young designer during their first fashion week show? Tim says, "Don't show at New York Fashion Week unless you have the ability and the resources to deliver the goods to retailers. Nothing is more disappointing than showing, having people excited about your work, and then not being ready!" Bottom line: Have a really good show, or don't do it. According to Tim, back in the 80s and early 90s the fashion industry would forgive you if you had a flop. Now, it doesn't forgive. With 243 designers showing at New York Fashion Week this week, there is no room for flops!
