Nancy Pelosi Intervened In Spat Between Kathy Griffin And Lana Del Rey

WASHINGTON -- House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has probably broken up her fair share of fights on Capitol Hill, so why not do it in Hollywood too?

In a Wednesday night appearance on "Late Night with Seth Meyers," comedian Kathy Griffin said Pelosi recently played mediator in an awkward run-in with singer Lana Del Rey, who was miffed that Griffin had put her on her "worst dressed list" on her show, "Fashion Police."

In the clip, first flagged by Salon, Griffin says she met Pelosi at a Grammy Awards party in Los Angeles earlier this month, and learned that Pelosi is a fan of her show.

"She was saying, 'Oh, I've been watching 'Fashion Police.' You're doing a great job, dear,'" Griffin said.

As they were talking, Griffin noticed Del Rey sitting nearby and decided to introduce herself. It didn't go well.

"She's like 'Acchhhh, I don't think so," Griffin recalled. "Then Nancy Pelosi goes, 'Oh my, did you put her on the worst dressed list?' And Lana Del Rey, who I don't know, is like, 'Uh huh. She did. Yeah. She did.'"

At that point, Griffin said, Pelosi stepped in.

"So Nancy Pelosi, like she has done for decades, was basically mediating between myself and Lana Del Rey," Griffin said to laughs. "Nancy Pelosi, of all people, is like, 'Oh Lana dear, it's just a show where they show pictures and make little jokes, dear. Don't be upset.' And Lana Del Rey is like, 'Acchhh, I don't think so.'"

A Pelosi spokesman declined comment.
