Kidnapping Suspect Said 'He's Nice To Kids'

A man who tried to kidnap a 1-year-old toddler told the child's siblings he was "nice to kids."

The man is shown on surveillance footage running with 22-month-old Owen Wright in his arms on Sunday in Sprague, Washington, the Associated Press reports.

Shortly afterwards, Wright's siblings, 10-year-old Brenden and his sister, 8-year-old Delicia, can be seen chasing after him and screaming.

Delicia told Good Morning America the man spoke with her before taking off with her brother.

"He said he’s nice to kids and he’d been babysitting for a long time,” Delicia said. "He lied to me."

After two teenagers joined the chase, the suspect let go of the toddler and fled, the AP reported. Owen is safe with his family.

Lincoln County Sheriff Wade Magers said his department has sent evidence to an FBI lab in Virginia for analysis but cautioned that there were no new leads.
