Florida authorities have found the teenager who they feared was in danger after she was photographed naked and surrounded by men.
She told authorities she is safe.
The Bay County Sheriff's Office said the 17-year-old, who was not identified, got in touch with authorities after she saw media reports that police were worried about her.
"She lives in the southern part of the United States and told investigators she visited Panama City Beach for spring break, although she does not attend college," a news release from the sheriff's office said. "She is 17 years of age and although she stated her behavior and interaction with the crowd was consensual and she is safe, she did not realize that someone was taking her picture."
BCSO spokesperson Ruth Corley previously told the News Herald that her office wasn't "trying to get her into trouble. "We want to make sure she isn’t in trouble.”
The sheriff's office said the matter is still under investigation.
