Norfolk police arrested the father of a missing Virginia teen on Saturday after he broke into a home and punched a dog.
Wesley Hadsell, 36, said he was looking for clues in the disappearance of his 18-year-old daughter, Anjelica, who went missing March 2. He's convinced Anjelica was kidnapped, and broke into the home of the person he believes took his daughter against her will, police said.
"I want my daughter home," Hadsell told WAVY. "That's what I want, and that's all I want. Anybody who wants to say something about that or get in the way of that, then I'm sorry. So what, some ways are unorthodox. I didn't have anything to do with her disappearance. I don't know where she's at."
He said he spent about 18 minutes inside the house, and punched the family dog out of anger.
Hadsell said he found his daughter's jacket in the house, "rolled up behind [a couch] cushion." Police wouldn't comment on that, but said that they haven't ruled out foul play in the case of the missing teen.
Police arrested Hadsell on four charges of obstructing justice following a 15-hour interrogation. He also faces one charge of possessing ammunition after a felony, and one charge of breaking and entering. The charges aren't related to his daughter's disappearance.
Hadsell has a felony conviction and isn't allowed to own firearms or ammunition, police said.
Authorities continued their search for the missing girl in a wooded area in Chesapeake on Saturday. Family and friends told cops they'd found clothing and items that belonged to the girl on the side of the road near the woods March 19.
Anjelica "AJ" Hadsell is 5 feet, 2 inches tall, 120 pounds, and has a mole beneath her lower lip. She was last seen on Millard Street in Norfolk around 2 p.m. March 2.
