How A Woman With A Traumatic Childhood Is Trying To Do Better For Her Kids

"My childhood was pretty traumatic, and so because of that, I try to make a conscious effort to be a different kind of mother to my children," says Julie, who says she ran away from her adoptive mother when she was 15. "I always wanted my children to feel safe and to not be afraid of me. I kind of created a version of a mom I always wished I had and that's what I tried to be."
