Katie Couric just welcomed James Corden to late night in the best way.
After being announced to come out for the program on Wednesday, the Yahoo News Global Anchor appeared to take a brutal fall down the "Late Late Show" stairs. Corden immediately came to her aid, only to drop to the floor when the real Couric came out to reveal it was all an April Fools' Day gag. "I was like, 'Oh my God. Katie Couric just died,'" said a relieved Corden to his panel of guests.
Late night hosts have been a popular target for pranks this year, but this was so diabolical that even pranking legend Ellen DeGeneres is probably taking notes.
"The Late Late Show with James Corden" airs weeknights at 12:35 a.m. ET on CBS.
