Halfway through Reince Priebus' interview on CBS News' "Face the Nation" this Sunday, the Republican National Committee chair reached into his pocket and casually tossed host Bob Schieffer a flash drive.
"I have a hard drive for you, Bob," he said. "It's at stophillary.org and it's the Clinton email files. A little bit of fun."
That same day, after a yearslong cat-and-mouse game with the media, Hillary Clinton finally announced she would be running for president. The announcement was made via Twitter along with the release of a short video in which the former secretary of state told voters she hoped to be a "champion" for "everyday Americans."
But in the weeks leading up to the campaign launch, Clinton found herself mired in controversy, with The New York Times reporting that she had used a private email account during her time at the State Department, possibly violating federal regulations.
The gag gift Priebus presented to Schieffer is apparently an attempt by the RNC to keep the email controversy alive as Clinton begins her campaign. The flash drives were sent to journalists and also given to reporters staked out in front of Clinton's Brooklyn campaign headquarters ahead of Sunday's announcement, Business Insider reported.
"A little reminder from the RNC that Hillary Clinton still hasn't answered legitimate questions or handed over her secret server to an independent party," a note attached to the drives read. "Here's a courtesy thumb drive -- make sure to save any emails from the Clinton campaign before she wipes another server clean."
The drives are "stocked with documents, videos and research material," according to The Washington Post.
Zeke Miller, a political reporter at Time, posted a photo of one of the drives to Twitter:
Recently announced presidential candidate Rand Paul, who also appeared on "Face The Nation" on Sunday, is selling a similar item on his website, listed for a whopping $99.95.
"CLEARANCE SALE! You've read about it on the news, now you can get one for yourself," the description on the site reads. "Hillary's Hard Drive. 100% genuine erased clean email server. Buyer beware, this product has had heavy use and it currently is no longer working, but that doesn't mean it's not valuable to someone. Anyone?
"Limited edition," the description continues. "We have 80 of these and when they're gone, they're gone forever."
