Police Allegedly Find 10,000 Bags Of Heroin In Car

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a routine traffic stop in New York's Westchester County netted 10,000 bags of heroin inside the vehicle.

Officers discovered the cache of drugs after pulling over a car for an unsafe lane change in Tarrytown on Tuesday.

Police obtained a search warrant after the suspects gave conflicting accounts of where they were going.

The Journal News ( ) says police found 10,600 bags of heroin in a concealed compartment of the car, as well as stamping devices that were used to label the bags. Police say the heroin has an estimated street value of $250,000.

Carolyn Claudio of Yonkers and Julio Vargas of New York City were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. They were arraigned Wednesday and held without bail.
