Just How Big Is The Sun? MinutePhysics Video Explains

Just How Big Is The Sun?

In case you didn't realize this already: our sun is very, very big.

As a new MinutePhysics video explains (above), its diameter is about 400 times greater than that of the moon. It takes light a full four and a half seconds just to travel from one side of the sun to the other.

But how does the size of the sun compare to Earth? Consider this: even though Jupiter is more than 10 times bigger than the Earth, the gas giant's radius is still only about one-tenth the size of the sun.

Check the video for more enlightenment.
