Comedian Jim Norton Speaks Candidly About Learning To 'Detox' From His Sex Addiction

Comedian Jim Norton Opens Up About Sex Addiction

Jim Norton has spoken honestly of his extravagant sex life in the past, boasting the volume of money he spends on prostitutes in a 2013 interview with Esquire and candidly dubbing himself a sex addict in his book Happy Endings.

Today, the comedian makes an effort to be less promiscuous, but he's still working towards curbing his reckless sexual impulses for good.

"The problem is me being addictive, not the actual stuff," he told HuffPost Live's Marc Lamont Hill in a Friday conversation.

While it's been helpful for the radio personality to "detox for a little while," Norton, who recently debuted his latest comedy special "Contextually Inadequate" on EPIX, still faces challenges.

"It's hard," he affirmed. "It's hard not to text dirty. You gotta detox and then see who you really are and what you really like, because when you're just grabbing for anything that makes you feel good and anything that takes you out of reality, you have no idea who you are anymore."

The "Louie" actor said he's still "working on it," but he has already made great strides.

"As far as paid sex or any of that stuff, I'm not doing it," he said.
