A man accused of stealing Sir Elton John's heart-shaped glasses has been arrested, Memphis police say.
Police say 26-year-old Matthew Colvin swiped the famous rocker's prescription eyeglasses from the Rock 'n Soul Museum in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 21. The white glasses, valued at $2,031, were kept in a display case at the museum.
He acknowledged stealing the glasses when police contacted him by phone on Monday, and was arrested the following day.
John Doyle, executive director of the Rock 'n' Soul Museum, told Fox Memphis the glasses were returned undamaged and will be back on display Wednesday.
Even if Elton John still used the glasses -- which now belong to Hard Rock Cafe International -- he likely wouldn’t have missed them much. The rock 'n' roll legend is rumored to own as many as 250,000 different pairs of glasses, most of which are no longer needed, as he's had surgery to correct his vision.
