College Student Spits, Sprays Windex On Roommate's Food: Cops

A college student in Columbia, South Carolina, is in hot water after allegedly spitting and spraying Windex on her roommate's food.

Hayley King, 22, has been charged with unlawful and malicious tampering with food, and could face 20 years in prison if convicted, WIS TV reports.

The incident happened Feb. 9, but is recently coming to light as King is due in court today to answer to the charges.

Surveillance video shows King spitting in containers of food stored in a fridge in the home she shared with two other women.

All three women attend the University of South Carolina.

King's roommates told Columbia Police that they set up cameras in the apartment because they had recently argued and tried unsuccessfully to get the suspect to move out. The roommates said they were worried about how the suspect might retaliate, according to the State newspaper.

One of the roommates told police she consumed food from a container that she believes contained Windex and King's saliva. Investigators said when King was questioned about the incident and she allegedly confessed, according to ABC News.

King was released a day after her arrest on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond, but is due in court today to answer to the charges, WIS-TV reports.
