When the Huffington Post launched in 2005, it created a distinctly unique platform for people from all walks of life to have their voices heard: the HuffPost Blog.
"Simpsons" voice Harry Shearer was one such blogger, telling HuffPost Live on Thursday that he'd felt a "responsibility to blog at least once a day" in the site's early days, but still relished the freedom in not being "called at 6 am in the morning" by an editor with a deadline.
"Unlike the journalism I had practiced as a kid, there was not a set limit on the number of words or number of paragraphs you could write," he recounted. "You were on your own to basically decide when you were boring people and you were on your own to decide what was important to write up."
