Cleveland Browns Sign Youngest-Ever Player, 9-Year-Old Dylan Sutcliffe, For One Dream-Fulfilling Day

Cleveland Browns Sign Youngest-Ever Player

The Cleveland Browns welcomed a new member to its team this week: a 9-year-old boy named Dylan Sutcliffe.

Dylan signed a one-day contract with the Browns Tuesday. The youngster, who suffers from a rare neurodegenerative disease called ataxia telangiectasia, had told the Make-A-Wish Foundation that he’d always dreamed of playing with his favorite football team.

The organization partnered with the Browns to make Dylan’s wish come true.

Browns president Alec Scheiner and general manager Ray Farmer welcomed Dylan to the team Tuesday.

“We’re excited to add another quality player to our roster as we prepare for the 2015 season,” said Farmer, per a news release. “When we first connected with Dylan, it was clear he was a competitor who had all of the right attributes to be a contributor to our team.”

The Browns had prepared a locker for Dylan, and organized a whole day of activities with the team. Dylan, who was accompanied by his family, had a private coaching session with head coach Mike Pettine before joining the Browns on the field for an offseason practice session.

Dylan got to spend time hanging out with the team, including with his favorite player, Phil Taylor.

“It’s huge for our team to have Dylan with us now,” Taylor said, per a news release.

Commenting on his contract with the Browns, Dylan told the press at a morning news conference: “I think it's awesome.“

We do too, Dylan.
