The freezer is one of the greatest appliances in the home kitchen. It keeps seasonal spring strawberries with all their sweetness at your beck and call throughout the year. It will happily hold a ready-to-eat lasagna for one of those rainy nights when you just don't have the energy to cook dinner. And it's an awesome way to waste less food. Be thankful for your freezer -- especially when you consider how long it can store all your favorite foods.
Once gratitude is taken care of, however, you may need to learn how to properly get those favorite foods unfrozen. While fruits and veggies don't really require proper training for defrosting, meat and poultry is another subject altogether. If not thawed safely, people can get sick. Let's not have that happen.
