While having Meryl Streep for a rockstar mom may sound awesome, it's quite the opposite for her character's kids in "Ricki and the Flash."
Directed by Jonathan Demme and written by Diablo Cody, the film stars Streep as Ricki Rendazzo, a braided rocker who returns home to her estranged family. After her daughter, Julie, (played by Streep's real-life daughter Mamie Gummer) is left in an emotional crisis, Ricki attempts to reconnect with her grown children, who aren't too happy with her, and ex-husband (Kevin Kline). There's Streep, there's singing, there's family drama; what more do you need?
"Ricki and the Flash" opens in the U.S. Aug. 7.
