MSNBC's Joe Scarborough spoke out passionately Tuesday morning against the Texas police officer who was caught on video pulling a gun on a group of unarmed teens at a pool party and aggressively handcuffing some of them.
The video clip, which has now been viewed online more than 6 million times, shows officers arriving to the scene of a pool party at Craig Ranch North Community Pool in McKinney. Several black male teenagers were placed on the ground and handcuffed. One cop is seen holding a black female face down on the ground while she cries out.
On "Morning Joe," Scarborough argued that the teens showed no sign of being a threat, harshly pointing the finger at poor police training.
"She was in a bathing suit!" he exclaimed. "This is just outrageous! Who trains these cops?"
Former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, who was a guest on Tuesday's show, said he wondered what an officer is technically supposed to do in a situation where someone is not obeying orders to sit or lie down.
"If they're teenagers and they're wearing bathing suits, I can tell you what you don't do," Scarborough responded. "You don't pull out a gun!"
