After Lil Wayne announced at KMEL's Summer Jam in Oakland, California, that he "just signed a deal with my motherfucking idol Jay Z" Saturday, many speculated that the rapper had signed on to Jay Z's label, Roc Nation. But, according to Lil Wayne's manager, that's not exactly the case.

The manager, Cortez Bryant, confirmed to TMZ that the rapper is partnering to release new music with Tidal, the streaming service partly owned by Jay Z. Earlier this month, the "Lollipop" rapper dropped his new single, "Glory," via the streaming service. Lil Wayne joins Jay Z, Beyoncé, Madonna, Rihanna Kanye West, Daft Punk, Alicia Keys, Jack White, Nicki Minaj and other artists as co-owners of Tidal.

Lil Wayne has been public about his issues with his current record label, Cash Money Records. In December 2014, following the delay of his 11th studio album, "Tha Carter V," the 32-year-old Grammy winner tweeted that he was a "prisoner" to the label and wants "off this label and nothing to do with these people." Cash Money's CEO is Lil Wayne's longtime friend and fellow rapper Birdman.

In January 2015, Lil Wayne dropped a mixtape, "Sorry 4 the Wait 2." "Tha Carter V" is yet to be released.
