There's A Better Way To Enjoy Your Smoothies This Summer

A fresh, fruit-and-veggie-packed smoothie is a great what to start your day -- but who has the time to wash, chop and blend first thing in the morning? Gabi Moskowitz, creator of the blog BrokeAss Gourmet, has a clever solution to turn your healthy smoothie into on-the-go ice pops that make a quick breakfast (or anytime) treat.

Start by mixing up your favorite smoothie recipe in your blender: strawberry, banana, tropical fruit -- Moskowitz says any smoothie recipe will work. Or, try her favorite concoction: spinach, bananas, pineapple, mango and soy milk.

After blending the smoothie together, Moskowitz pours her mixture into ice pop molds. While these plastic, reusable molds come in handy, feel free to use any small, cylinder-shaped containers you have at home. "8 oz. mason jars are really great," Moskowitz says. "Even a paper cup that's sort of thin and the right shape, those are great because you stick a popsicle stick in, freeze them, and you can just unwrap the paper and it's really easy."

After filling the mold and adding a stick, place the molds in the freezer for at least two hours. "And in the morning, when I'm rushing out the door, I just pull my pop out of the freezer," Moskowitz says. "Super easy."
