Wearing French braids might have been your go-to look as a child, along with doily socks, but that doesn't mean you should shy away from the style as an adult.

We love the braided 'do for several reasons. For starters, French braids instantly turn bad hair days into great ones (see ya later, frizz). They're also one of the easiest braided hairstyles to do since they can be worn so many different ways -- and "mistakes" are really just happy accidents. And they have the ability to transform your look. Yes, transform.

Turn sophisticated outfits edgy by wearing a French braid in a ponytail or faux mohawk, or soften an otherwise severe look by pairing the 'do with beachy waves or wearing it across the crown of your head.

Scroll down for 15 fresh takes on the French braid, along with tips and product recommendations to help you achieve the looks at home.
